Long before the Death Star blotted out the suns of Alderaan… long before the Starkiller Base converted starfire into cosmic annihilation… there existed a structure so colossal, so terrifyingly powerful, that it did not merely destroy planets. It moved them.
Intro
Welcome back to The Infernal Brotherhood of the Scruffy-Looking Nerf Herders. Today we unlock the ultimate archive on the grandest superweapon in Legends continuity: Centerpoint Station. Forged over one hundred thousand years before the Battle of Yavin by forces older than the Republic itself, this 350-kilometer behemoth sat silent between the twin worlds of the Corellian system for generations. To its inhabitants, it was a home called Hollowtown. To the galaxy, it was an enigma. But when awoken, its hyperspace tractor beams could drag suns across the void, annihilate fleets in an instant, or shatter a star system at the press of a button.

Architecture & The Internal World of Hollowtown
To truly understand Centerpoint Station, we must first grasp its unthinkable scale. Measuring 350 kilometers long and 100 kilometers wide, Centerpoint dwarfed the first Death Star. Resembling a massive central sphere capped by two elongated cylindrical poles, it was positioned precisely at the Lagrangian point between the twin planets Talus and Tralus.
Because it was engineered prior to the common use of modern artificial gravity plates, Centerpoint generated gravity through sheer rotational force. Over 2,000 internal levels and decks—some with ceilings over twenty meters high, known as “shells”—housed a sprawling city-like environment.
At the absolute heart of the station sat a hollowed core sixty kilometers wide. Suspended in mid-air within this vault was the Glowpoint—an artificial miniature sun that provided light, heat, and raw nuclear power. Surrounding the Glowpoint were massive geometric arrays of tractor-repulsor cones, known to local inhabitants as the North and South Conical Mountains.
For centuries, hundreds of thousands of colonists lived within “Hollowtown,” farming under the warm radiance of the Glowpoint, entirely unaware that their pastoral paradise was built inside the fire-control chamber of the most dangerous weapon in galactic history.
The Architects & The Origins
Who built such a masterpiece? For millennia, galactic historians assumed Centerpoint was the work of an unknown precursor race. But true lore reveals its creators were the Celestials—also known as the Architects—working alongside the insectoid Killik hives.
Around 100,000 BBY, the powerful Force-entities known as the Son and the Daughter joined the Killik hive-mind, granting the hive the collective Force power and focus required to smelt asteroids and assemble the station in deep space.
The Celestials did not build Centerpoint for war. They built it as a cosmic tool of re-engineering. Combined with planetary repulsors buried deep beneath local worlds, Centerpoint acted as a hyperspace tractor beam array. The Celestials used it to drag planets across light-years, hand-crafting entire star systems—including the Corellian System itself.
Even more astonishing, Centerpoint was utilized by the Celestials to construct The Maw—a terrifying, unnatural cluster of black holes engineered specifically to imprison the eldritch entity known as Abeloth, the Bringer of Chaos.
The Corellian Crisis & The Weapon Awakens
Following the departure of the Celestials and the collapse of the Infinite Empire, Centerpoint lay dormant for millennia. Settlers colonized its shell decks, and the Executive Secretariat governed it peacefully. That all changed in 18 ABY during the Corellian Crisis.
The Sacorrian Triad and the extremist Centerpoint Party uncovered the station’s true purpose. By unlocking its fire-control systems, they activated a massive interdiction field that locked down the entire Corellian sector and demonstrated its terrifying firepower by triggering supernovas in distant stars.
It was during this crisis that young Anakin Solo, utilizing his innate affinity for technology and the Force, managed to align the station’s Conical Mountains, disarming the Triad’s control and revealing that only someone with a specific alignment in the Force could fully command the station without destroying it.
The Yuuzhan Vong War & The Tragic Firing at Fondor
The tragedy of Centerpoint Station reached its peak during the devastating Yuuzhan Vong War in 25 ABY. As the extra-galactic invaders pressed into the galaxy, the New Republic sought to turn Centerpoint into the ultimate deterrent.
During the Battle of Fondor, a massive Yuuzhan Vong fleet besieged the planet. Anakin Solo was brought to Centerpoint’s fire-control chamber to aim its hyperspace repulsor at the enemy fleet. However, wracked with moral hesitation over the horrific loss of life the weapon would inflict, Anakin hesitated.
His uncle, Thrackan Sal-Solo, seized the controls and fired the weapon instead. The targeting was imperfect. While the beam obliterated half of the invading Yuuzhan Vong fleet, it also caught the allied Hapan Expeditionary Fleet in its path. Three-quarters of the Hapan fleet was vaporized instantly. The sheer trauma of this disaster fractured the Jedi Order’s stance on military action and haunted Anakin Solo for the rest of his short life.
The Second Galactic Civil War & Destruction
By 40 ABY, during the Second Galactic Civil War, Centerpoint Station had once again become the focal point of galactic tension. Re-armed by the Corellian Confederation to maintain independence against the Galactic Alliance, it posed too great a threat to be left standing.
Knowing the sheer galactic leverage Centerpoint granted its owner, the newly christened Sith Lord Darth Caedus (formerly Jacen Solo) led an assault to capture the station for his own power. Meanwhile, a Jedi strike team, including Jedi Master Kyp Durron and Ben Skywalker, infiltrated the station to sabotage it.
During the chaos, the station’s central core overloaded. The ancient power of the Glowpoint collapsed inward, triggering a cataclysmic chain reaction. Centerpoint Station—a construct that had endured for over one hundred thousand years—was shattered into an enormous cloud of twisted metallic debris.
Centerpoint Station stands as one of the most remarkable paradoxes in Star Wars history. Built by cosmic gods to sow life and structure across the stars, it ended its existence as an instrument of dread, political ambition, and tragic destruction. Its legacy serves as a stark reminder in the Expanded Universe: when mortals inherit the tools of the gods, catastrophe is rarely far behind.
