- released in November 2007 and ran until March 2008.
- It was published by Wildstorm (DC Comics) and Dynamite Entertainment.
- Based on the original Freddy vs. Jason 2 film treatment by Jeff Katz,
- the story serves as a crossover sequel to Freddy vs. Jason and the Evil Dead trilogy.
- The comic book series was written by James Kuhoric and illustrated by Jason Craig.
- Synopsis
- Set in December 2008, five years after Freddy vs. Jason, Ash Williams transfers to the Crystal Lake S-Mart just as Jason Voorhees resurfaces. Trapped in Jason’s mind, a powerless Freddy Krueger manipulates the killer into retrieving the Necronomicon. After Jason slaughters the original Freddy vs. Jason survivors and raids the S-Mart for the book, Freddy uses its dark magic to regain his full reality-warping power. However, boosting Jason’s intelligence causes the brute to turn against him. Ash and a small crew of surviving retail employees step up to fight both icons, ultimately banishing Freddy and trapping Jason beneath the ice.
- The Return to Crystal Lake:
- Freddy vs. Jason survivors Lori and Will return to Crystal Lake for closure, only to be promptly murdered by Jason.
- Trapped powerlessly inside Jason’s mind, Freddy (alongside a manifestation of “Pamela” Voorhees) manipulates Jason into seeking out the Necronomicon hidden in the Voorhees home.
- Ash Enters the Fray:
- Ash Williams arrives at the local Crystal Lake S-Mart to train its teenage staff and misinterprets Jason’s initial killing spree as Deadite activity.
- Ash investigates the Voorhees house and finds the Necronomicon right before Jason shows up to slaughter a group of local teens.
- S-Mart Attack & Freddy’s Empowerment:
- Jason massacres most of the S-Mart staff and reclaims the Necronomicon.
- Freddy uses the book to restore his full powers, warp reality, and enhance Jason’s intelligence.
- Dream Infiltration & Internal Betrayal:
- Freddy attacks Ash and the surviving employees in their sleep.
- Now smart enough to realize he’s being used, Jason turns on Freddy to claim the Necronomicon’s power for himself.
- The Final Showdown:
- Freddy warps the Voorhees home into the Elm Street house and resurrects Jason’s past victims as Deadites to attack both Ash and Jason.
- With help from his surviving coworkers, Ash uses the Necronomicon to banish Freddy to the Deadite dimension.
- Jason and the Necronomicon end up trapped together beneath the frozen waters of Crystal Lake.
